The state’s First Fisheries Polytechnic was inaugurated on 29-10-2007 by Honourable Minister Sri. Mandali. Buddha Prasad garu at Bhavadevarapalli under esteemed Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University. Diviseema area is surrounded by Krishna river. The Aquaculture activities are going on around the Polytechnic.

The main objective of this Polytechnicis to develop the field level technicians to support the aquaculture industry by providing technical support to the small and marginal farmers for the sustainable aquaculture. This institute is regularly organizing the campus interviews with the stakeholders of Aqua farming and industry achieving 100% placements. As per the selections on an average each student got three placement opportunities with the starting salary of Rs. 15,000/- to Rs.18,000/- per month.

The Fisheries Polytechnic was established at Bhavadevarapalli village, Avanigadda, Krishna District during September–2007 under esteemed Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University. This is the state’s first Fisheries Polytechnic Polytechnic to strengthen education and services in the field of Fisheries to develop the field level technicians to support the small and marginal farmers for the sustainable aquaculture in the state and country. Honorable Minister Sri. Mandali. Buddha Prasad garu inaugurated the Polytechnic. The Polytechnic was named after the great leader late Sri Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao garu “Farmers Minister of Andhra Pradesh Government”. Initially the Polytechnichad been runned at Gandhikshetram, Avanigadda with a class–room, Laboratory, Staff–room, Library and Principal room. Lab equipment, Furniture, Hostel equipment, water coolers and computer are provided for the Polytechnic. The foundation stone of Polytechnic buildings was laid by Honorable Minister Sri. Mandali. Buddha Prasad garu on 26th Feb 2009. Polytechnic buildings and hostels were inaugurated by Honorable Chief Minister Sri. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy garu on June 15th 2013. This institute is regularly organizing the campus interviews with the stakeholders of Aqua farming and industry achieving 100% placements. Admission Procedure
  • A paper notification from SVVU, Tirupati will be issued every year in the month of June
  • SSC (10th) pass students are eligible. The selection will be based on the marks by following the reservations.
  • A minimum of 55% marks are required without Hindi in the case of OC and BC students.
  • A minimum of 45% marks are required without Hindi in the case of SC and ST students.
  • The candidate should have studied minimum of 4 years in municipal area (Rural) in his/her study period till SSC to apply for Fisheries Polytechnic.
  • Inter pass students are not eligible to apply for the Diploma courses
Academic Programme

This Course is a semester wise programme with 4 semesters, of which 3 semesters of theoretical knowledge and 1 semester of practical work experience programme at field level i.e Fisheries Polytechnic work experience programme (FPWEP).

30 seats were allotted under statewide common counseling,

  • In 2007, 19 students (11 boys + 8 Girls) had joined.
  • In 2008, 25 Students (20 Boys + 5 Girls) had joined.
  • In 2009, 26 Students (18 Boys + 8 Girls) had joined.
  • In 2010, 28 Students (24 Boys + 4 Girls) had joined.
  • In 2011, 27 Students (15 Boys + 12 Girls) had joined.
  • In 2012, 29 Students (20 Boys + 9 Girls) had joined.
  • In 2013, 26 Students (21 Boys + 5 Girls) had joined.
  • In 2014, 29 Students (17 Boys + 12 Girls) had joined.
  • In 2015, 38 Students (22 Boys + 16 Girls) had joined.
  • In 2016, 38 Students (26 Boys + 12 Girls) had joined.
  • In 2017, 38 Students (21 Boys + 17 Girls) had joined.

The Intake of Students increased from 30 to 40 (AP – 29 and Telangana – 11 seats were allotted) from the academic year 2015 – 2016 as per memo No. 4897/ACAD-I/ 2015/ of the Registrar, SVVU, Tirupati.
